JOHN LENNON

«ABOUT THIS INTERVIEW: On January 21st 1971, John Lennon and Yoko Ono sat down for an exclusive interview with Tariq Ali and Robin Blackburn. The conversation would be published in the underground newspaper, 'Red Mole.'

This is one of Lennon's more political interviews, held during the height of his radical phase, which would turn out to be a fairly brief period. Lennon would later remember in his 1980 Newsweek interview, "That radicalism was phony, really, because it was out of guilt. I'd always felt guilty that I made money, so I had to give it away or lose it. I don't mean I was a hypocrite. When I believe, I believe right down to the roots. But being a chameleon, I became whoever I was with."
